PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:The Rural Business and Economic Development Program, initiated in June 1996, provides technical assistance and business and economic development information for the target areas of Sumter/Greene Enterprise community, and Macon and Lowndes/Butler Champion Communities.This program offers one-on-one assistance to new or current rural entrepreneurs interested in starting or expanding their businesses. Technical assistance is provided in the areas of business development, implementation and monitoring, financial management, and loan application. Training is provided for cash flow analysis, business planning, loan packaging, marketing, bookkeeping, product development, customer relations, and business skills relating to answering services, referral networks, courier services, consulting, arts and crafts, catering, child care, volunteers coordination, home-based businesses, etc. Strategic planning and forecasting for new business development opportunities, and franchise opportunities are also analyzed.
